Tourism Federation of Ladakh constitude in Leh

Leh, June 23, 2010 The travel trade related associations of Ladakh have constituted an apex body to be called as Tourism Federation of Ladakh.

The decision was taken in meeting which was attended by members of All Ladakh Tour Operator Association (ALTOA), All Ladakh Hotel and Guest Houses (ALHGA) and All Ladakh Taxi Cooperative Union (ALTCU).

President of ALTOA Mr. P T Kunzang was elected unanimously as chairman of the newly constituted Tourism Federation of Ladakh.

The federation would work on five major tourism trade related issues including promotion of eco-friendly tourism in the region and more local participation in the trade.

The executive committee of the all the trade related association would nominate the executive members of the Tourism Federation of Ladakh soon.

 In Ladakh i have noticed that most of the travel agencies hire non Ladakhis as guides, cooks and helpers which i think will not work in favour of locals and Ladakh in entirety.
